And the Story Continues...

I am seeking new stories to learn. I do hope to have a "live" story on my blog as soon as I learn the procedure. Today is my eighth day back at ACPL and I am so awestruck by the beauty of this place. I completely enjoy my office and the design of this building is incredible. I am inspired by the new surroundings. Before the end of the day, I will have my plan for a new Black History Month program in place and I will offer it to the branches.

Stories2go Mission

Stories are very important to me. I have always enjoyed hearing stories about my family, about other families, about how lovers meet, about how people become themselves, and on and on... Preserving stories is the purpose of libraries and griots (pronounced gree-ohs). I read somewhere, that in West Africa when a griot dies, it is like a library burning down. In West Africa, a griot is a musician-entertainer-storyteller whose performances include history/genealogy.

I love libraries and stories. In 1986, I attended the National Storytellers Festival in Jonesboro, TN and was so enthralled by the excellent storytellers I experienced there that I decided I had to become one. Ever since then, I have been learning and telling stories wherever I could. On December 4, 2007, I completed my first storytelling CD entitled "Stories in the Key of Love" and I am excited about storytelling.

This is my first posting and I am looking forward to attracting good stories to read and to tell and to meeting other storytellers.
